Listen to the soundtrack of our exposition and discover the story behind it
00:00: Holding Hands
05:00: Passing by
13:15: Interlude
14:45: Breaking Chains
The soundtrack for Holding Hands has been created with the purpose of conveying the stories shared in the exhibition. The layering of the soundtrack reflects the complexity of the narrated experiences, where the sounds are both a direct and indirect reference to the stories being told, thus forming a narrative of their own.
The opening track Holding Hands speaks of the loss of dreams and innocence, and the inner strength required to break free from the past. 'Passing By' takes the listener on a sonic journey through the cities that set the stage for the stories that continue to unfold every day.
In an interlude of reflection, we are faced with a sad realization, but the journey does not end in gloom. Instead, a narrative of hope and resilience unfolds. 'Breaking Chains' is a tribute to the unyielding women who took matters into their own hands, did not accept their fate, and raised their voices. This soundtrack is an homage to their unbroken spirit and the courage to share these stories with us.
Holding Hands
Covert in shadows, silent cries,
A world unseen by passerby,
No chains of iron, but of fear,
Hold captive those we hold so dear.
In those shadows’ innocence meets,
Young girl's dreams, turns bittersweet.
Holding hands with veiled deceit,
Her childhood lost in heart's defeat.
Yet within a flicker of might,
Holding hope through the dark of night.
She tries to save the life they stole,
The fragments of a shattered soul.
Defining herself beyond her past,
She's free to live, to love, at last.
Holding hands with newfound trust,
Striding forward because she must.
